What is a Grid Tie Solar System

Grid-tie solar power systems give you the best of both worlds: green energy and the security of the electrical grid. You can offset some of your electricity bill by tying your solar panels to the grid.

Description

A grid-tie residential solar system is one that connects you and your solar panels to the electrical grid. You generate electricity through your solar panels and you "sell" your unused electricity to the power company.

Equipment

The three basic components of a grid-tie residential system are the solar panels, the inverter and the meter, which can spin backwards.

Function

Your solar panels convert sunlight to DC electricity. An inverter converts the DC electricity to AC which can be used in your house. At night, you get your electricity through the grid in the usual manner.

Benefits

If you generate more electricity than you use, the excess makes your meter spin backwards, reflecting a credit. You never run out of electricity. Solar panels are also a green energy source that do not require fossil fuels to run.

Green Phoenix can offer PVs (Monocrystalline & Polycrystalline) from Antaris solar, which is one of the leading German & European manufacturers of photovoltaic (PV) technologies offering complete packaged systems with 30 year performance warranties on their panels. There is no manufacturer that can offer the same. Antaris Solar combine their market leading panels with industry leading inverters such as SMA and offer Schletter roof mounting systems.

Grid Tie Systems

We have created some Pre-prepared packages, but Green Phoenix can also create any size system to suit your requirements. This would include Domestic as well as Commercial size systems for any Roof or Ground Mountings.

Solar PV Documents

The MCS certification is granted by the British Standards Institute (BSI), the UK's main testing authority, and requires detailed testing of all production processes and thorough assessment of the product performance. The MCS certificate is a prerequisite for selling solar modules in the UK market and confirms that they comply with or surpass the photovoltaic module standards applicable in the UK. The MCS certificate also determines whether products qualify for subsidies and feed-in tariffs.
